So, she can learn how to control her powers so she doesn't go insane. Her parents raised her... if you call it that. When she first became aware of her powers, her parents thought it was some kind of phase or something.
By the time she was 11 and had accepted them, her parents had shunned her because of them. They wanted the picture perfect family and she was ruining that image. She hid her powers from them as best she could, it wasn't really hard since they mostly ignored her. They don't know that she's attending Magic School, they don't really care where she goes as long as she doesn't draw attention to herself.
Any Extra Information: She's not very trusting of others. She may be able to fell what others are feeling but she still doesn't trust easily. She's afraid to be rejected again, though she'll never admit it.

Role Play Sample:
Carter slammed her bedroom door, trying to shut out the yelling. If you looked at her family on the outside they looked perfect.. well at least her parents did. She looked like the typical 'rebellious teenager'. But that's so wrong.
Her parents are always fighting, unless others are around or Carter's there to yell at. As much as they hate each other, they hate Carter more. Because she's not the picture perfect daughter. But she's not the rebellious teenager either. She's just trying to survive with the strange abilities she has.
She summoned the door to Magic School and stepped through. She breathed a sigh of relief. She was home, the one place where she didn't have to pretend.. at least not fully.
